Corduroy is a fabric that you would never expect to make a giant comeback. It’s kind of basic, and reminds us of pants we’d wear in first grade, or perhaps even a beloved stuffed bear from a storybook we’ve read when we were young. But low and behold, Corduroy is a fabric that’s popping up everywhere, just in time for fall.
A-line corduroy skirts were the first to make a comeback. The button down style also became very popular. This style reminded me of one of Cher’s more under-rated outfits from Clueless. It’s cute, academic, and kind of feminine without going overboard. I love the vintage aesthetic that comes with wearing one of these skirts, it’s a timeless piece!
It was corduroy pants that I never really expected to make a full fledged comeback. Nevertheless, some of the most-wanted pieces for fall 2017 are a pair of cords and a matching jacket. Marc Jacobs featured shearling lined corduroy jacket, and wide-legged cords in rich fall colors. then, Somewhere Nowhere then released an amazing pair of baggy cords that mix skater style with a thick, preppy corduroy fabric in shades of bright cherry red and bubblegum pink.
I think it’s the perfect fabric for the new school year. This new, relaxed style that people are using when making corduroy their fabric of choice is so interesting, and I’d love to see if anything else interesting comes from it.
