The staple combat boot brand, Dr. Martens, just got a bit more cutesy when U.K. Brand, Lazy Oaf, known for their pastel colors, whimsical designs, and sarcastic style gave them an adorable makeover!
The collab only consists of three pieces, but each one is fun, irreverent, and is perfect for autumn. First, the 1461 shoes, a pair of chunky soled oxfords have been sprinkled with red hearts, (much like their newly released fall pieces) and the back strap reads, “Don’t Care” a slogan that Lazy Oaf champions with pride. These shoes are retailing at $135. I could see these paired with a simple long sleeve collared dress and black tights. They’re such a cute and quirky pair of shoes, they make a simple statement on their own!
The classic Dr. Martens combat boot gets a girly makeover with a double platform, heart shaped zipper pendant, and a panel of leather ruffles and velvet laces. The back strap on this pair says “My Life is Boring”. Another popular statement from Lazy Oafs! I’d love to see these worn with an oversized printed sweater and leggings for a relaxed daytime look. For $220, these shoes could be in your closet!
The last item is a heart shaped leather bag, with even more polka-dotted red hearts! It’s a crossbody, which I love because it keeps your hands free, the bag is also rather large so it’s not just a fun piece, it looks like it could hold quite a bit of stuff in it! This bag is selling for $140 and is the perfect way to finish off any outfit!
As a fan of Dr. Martens and Lazy Oaf, I can say without a doubt that this is one of my favorite collaborations I’ve seen this summer. It’s fun, irreverent, and cute, but doesn’t go overboard. I feel like when collaborating with a shoe brand, a lot of clothing labels like to plaster on every single thing that is signature about their company, but Lazy Oaf just added a few simple touches, that make it very easy to plan fun outfits around them. They can be statement pieces, but they’re also not over the top, so they could also just be used to pull an outfit together. Lazy Oaf has done many, many collaborations over the past few months, so I’m anxious to see to see what else they’ve got in store for us!
