Vans x Thrasher Collaboration

The ultimate skater collection is here, and we’re ready! The famous skater magazine, Thrasher, is pairing up with Vans, the number one skate shoe, to create a limited edition collection of shoes and it’s pretty amazing! Thrasher’s famous flame print is emblazoned on the side of Vans’ Sk8-Hi Pro, Slip on Pro, and new Ultra Range Pro sneakers, as well as hoodies, snapbacks, and even a much-desired military jacket.

Vans’ iconic checkerboard print is also extremely prevalent in the collection, along with a shout out to legendary skateboarder, and longtime supporter of Vans, John Cardiel. A long-sleeve tee shirt features Cardiel’s Thrasher Skater of the Year cover from 1992. This shirt alone can perfectly encapsulate the feeling of the collaboration; an homage to skate culture, and a look towards the future.

Even if you aren’t a skateboarder, this collaboration might get you excited. Thrasher’s logo has been seen everywhere as of late, becoming more of a style and fashion trend, as well as the bible for die-hard skateboarders.

I think the magazine recognizes this, and instead of insisting on being only for true skaters, I’m glad they’ve decided to expand and collaborate with other brands. I think if they did what many sportswear brands do when they become popular in mainstream fashion, is try and protect their brand, and make it known that they’re explicitly for sportswear only, but Thrasher has an understanding that by expanding and getting into apparel and sneakers, that they’re going to attract more people to their magazine in the process, and get more people interested in the world of skateboarding. Overall, from a style, or business standpoint, the collection is sure to be a massive success.
