Gucci’s relationship with Millennials and the internet world continues. After the #TFWGUCCI project dedicated to the world of watches, young illustrator Angelica Hicks begins a new collaboration with the Florentine maison. Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci, discovered Hicks’s works on Instagram and was immediately fascinated by his artistic approach and ironic tone. From this meeting was born a collection of limited edition unisex t-shirts.
@angelicahicks, here against the #GucciArtWall in Soho, NY featuring one of her drawings, collaborated with Gucci on the 11 designs for a T-shirt collection available exclusively on Gucci.com in US and Europe from May 25. Only 100 units of each style have been produced, for a total of 1,100 pieces. Similar to an art print, every T-shirt in the collection is numbered with a dedicated label (e.g. 1/100). #GucciGeeks #AlessandroMichele
To celebrate this collaboration, Gucci also unveils the continuation of its Art Wall. Last February, Gucci presented his first murals signed by Jayde Fish on Lafayette Street in Soho, New York. Today the Gucci Art Wall project is now expanded with two new illustrations by Angelica Hicks that were presented on May 8th: the former occupies the same space as the previous murals in Manhattan, while the latter is on a Milan wall in Largo la Foppa and portrays two young Gucci girls freaks & geeks. This space will host the illustration for 2 months, and will continue to host hosting various specialty art projects by the end of the year.
A look at the Soho #GucciArtWall featuring a design by @angelicahicks. The work is part of a collaboration project with Gucci, a T-shirt collection featuring 11 of the British illustrator’s designs, launching May 25 exclusively on Gucci.com in Europe and US. The works, reproduced in New York by Colossal Media and Milan by the European leader in out-of-home publicity Urban Vision, express the beauty and uniqueness of outdoor advertising that transforms into a hand-painted artwork.
The Milan #GucciArtWall by @angelicahicks is revealed on Largo La Foppa, in the city’s lively pedestrian district of Corso Garibaldi. Hand-painted on the wall: one of the 11 designs by the British illustrator that feature on the limited edition T-shirt collection launching on May 25 exclusively on Gucci.com in Europe and the US. #GucciGeeks #AlessandroMichele
To enrich the project, a Snapchat geo-filter created by Angelica Hicks is available in New York near the murals.
