Bouchra Jarrar created a beautiful and cutting edge collection for her last collection as head of Lanvin, leaving us with her signature bomber jackets, androgynous suits, and some beautiful full skirts. After only 16 months at the house, Jarrar is already saying goodbye, by providing us with a collection that perfectly encapsulates her vision for Lanvin. Many of the garments were either black, navy, or white, with small pops of gold, or the brand’s signature shade of powder blue, giving the collection small bursts of colors.
I think my favorite piece from this collection are the suits. They’re feminine, and have a subtle masculinity to them, that makes them extremely interesting. I especially love the suits that are paired with long smoking jackets with beautiful printed silk. They’re a subtle nod to the pajama trend that’s been popping up over and over again this year! The collection itself is full of classic staple pieces that are sure to be timeless. Pieces such as the floral shift dresses, high waist trousers, and oversize blazers are things that I have never deemed unfashionable. If you’re looking for pieces you can wear a long time, Lanvin is the brand for you!
The last stretch of the collection included more monochromatic pieces, and finished off with two beautiful maxi dresses, printed with an aquatic mix of green and blue. While Jarrar is leaving, her legacy at Lanvin will live on. Her ability to create pieces with a nostalgic aesthetic, meaning we feel like we’ve seen these garments before, and we long to have them back again, but with her own twist is sure to become legendary.
