Is it possible to be in love with a runway show? Because it just happened for me! Saks Potts’s latest fashion show was a fur fantasy that was a mixture of 90s’ Clueless fashion and Barbie! I am in love with the pastel color scheme. When showing a fur collection in the spring, it’s good to use light colors to make the collection seem less weighted and heavy.
Saks Potts has been in the news before for their “understated statement coats”. Many of their items are large, fluffy pieces of outerwear that don’t draw attention away from the rest of the outfit. The brand decided to go on for full-on statement coats this time, which seemed to be the focus of the runway show. In between the mountains of fur, however, were printed one piece body suits that contrasted wonderfully when you see the large coats! The collection itself seemed to have a bubbly personality to it, and that’s what makes it so easy to gravitate towards. I love to see a collection where I know exactly who the designer is trying to portray, it gives such life to the clothes!
The last stretch of the show played up the 90s’ style the most, in my opinion. I loved the transparent vinyl bags, dark printed tights. We were shown spaghetti strap shift dresses with color-filtered sunglasses, a true staple of the era. The fur coats got more and more dramatic, featuring bold stripes and wavy patterns. I wasn’t extremely familiar with Saks Potts before this collection, but now, I’m completely obsessed! They embody that Scream Queens/ Chanel Oberlin style that rose to fame in 2015, and made it wearable for everyday. I’ll definately be watching out for what this brand does next, as should you!
