Stranger Things is probably the most popular Netflix original show right now, and season 2 getting closer and closer! The show’s binge-watchable quality has fans everywhere itching to grab some Eggos waffles and see how the story develops from its first season. And, to the delight of fans everywhere, the creators have already announced that season 3 is in the works!
Ross Duffer, writer of Stranger Things says, “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” He further explains, “I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.” This means that the end of the series is happening sooner than any of us thought! Season 2 is supposed to cover all of the consequences and delve into the aftermath of the fantastically strange things that happened in season 1, and includes a whole new cast of characters that are moving into Hawkins. One of which is Billy, played by Australian actor, Dacre Montgomery. Billy is said to be an antagonist in the upcoming season, inspired by Jack Torrance from the iconic Stanley Kubrick film, The Shining. The Duffers say that “Billy’s a very fun, full on person, but inside he’s a crazy human being.” Introducing an entire new character seems like a confusing choice for a show that is said to be ending soon, but the Duffer Brothers have already proved themselves as amazing writers and directors, respectively, so we have no doubt they’ll give us an amazing, and satisfying ending!
While I’m sad to hear that the impending series finale of the show is coming in two years, I am happy to hear the Duffer Brothers aren’t dragging the show along for longer than necessary. Some shows that are extremely popular can seem to last forever, Supernatural, for example, was supposed to end after season 5, but the show is on their 13th season and is still going, and the momentum dies out after a while.
Season 2 of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix on October 27th.
