Lily Collins Just Made Jazz Shoes the New Tennis Shoes

The Emily in Paris star is the latest to hop on the derby bandwagon.

Lily Collins may have been courtside at the 2026 French Open earlier this week, but tennis shoes were the last thing on her mind.

THE RUNDOWN

  • Lily Collins attended the 2026 French Open with her husband, Charlie McDowell.
  • The actress wore a simple minidress, white cardigan, and lace-up jazz shoes.
  • Her shoe of choice signals a wider summer trend among celebrities.

Attending the prestigious tennis tournament with her husband, Charlie McDowell, the Emily in Paris star sidestepped sneakers for a jazzier alternative. She wore white lace-up jazz shoes—a style she seems to have purchased from Zara—marked by their extremely minimal profile and monochrome detailing. Like a true pair of ballet flats, albeit with a sportier finish, Collins styled her shoes without socks. She leaned into the French Girl look with a white cardigan layered over a bateau-neck LBD.

Collins isn’t the only star to update her ballerina slippers for the jazz shoe alternative. When promoting her film Apex in New York City last month, Charlize Theron showed the day-to-night prowess of the shoe. She styled a knit Bottega Veneta going-out dress with a pair of white shoes. They featured a more square toe box as opposed to Collins’s slimmer version.

The shoe style is gaining momentum on the runways, too. At Celine’s spring/summer 2026 show, designer Michael Rider presented black and white leather derbies styled with chic Parisian ready-to-wear: double-breasted suit coats, embroidered miniskirts, and sharp shirting. As Rider showcased, the appeal of the jazz shoe is plentiful. It presents the same comfortability of a sneaker, without veering too far into the world of athleisure.

Don’t be surprised to see the jazz shoe continue to reign this summer—or make an appearance during the final season of Emily in Paris.
