Cécred’s salon-approved six-piece line handles everything from heat protection to flexible hold
ust over two years after the release of Cécred’s first round of haircare products, the Beyoncé-backed beauty brand just dropped its third collection. Created with the silkiest of silk presses, bounciest of wash-and-gos, and sleekest of slicked-backs in mind, the six-piece Styling Collection arrives on the heels of Cécred’s royal blue Protection Collection drop last August. The newest collection aims to make it easy to achieve salon-level results at home by introducing a Volumizing Mousse, Heat-Activated Silk Glaze, Wrap & Set Foam, Thermal Shield Mist, Strong Hold Gel, and Flexible Hold Hairspray to its growing range of haircare staples.

The full Cécred Styling Collection and new Edge Brush
At the root of the Styling Collection is Cécred’s proprietary StemShield Complex, a blend of plant stem cell lipids, polymers, and black honey fermentation that guards hair against the effects of humidity, pollution, and any potential style-related damage. In fact, the entire line uniquely protects against up to 450 degrees, ideal for curly naturals like me who have quite literally been burned in the past by unforgiving high temperatures, but also suitable for any hair type. Each item in the new collection is extremely lightweight and nongreasy, designed to prioritize hair health as much as the styling process itself.
Unbeknownst to Beyoncé fans worldwide, the star’s long-time hairstylist and Cécred’s lead global stylist, Neal Farinah, used the new collection to craft the star’s Cowboy Carter tour looks. “Throughout my career, I’ve asked my hair to do the impossible, from snatched ponytails to big-body blowouts in the extremes—heat, rain, humidity, but it always came with a tradeoff. I could never find products that let me have healthy hair, and hair that does the most,” Beyoncé Knowles-Carter says in a statement. “We built this collection to give you what you need for any look. We made sure every single product delivers 450°F heat and humidity protection. You should never have to choose between a ‘look’ and the health of your hair.”

My hair look after trialing Cécred’s Styling Collection for the first time
And speaking of hair health, I was able to put the majority of the new products to the test during a salon session with Farinah, Cécred’s director of education, Kari Williams, and fellow stylists Alondra and MariLynne Cosmillo. After detangling, washing, and treating my hair with the brand’s Moisturizing Deep Conditioner, the experts gave me a trim and then spritzed on the brand’s Thermal Shield Mist, followed by application of their Volumizing Mousse only to my roots to give them extra oomph (we’re talking Texas-level heights).
Next, the team used Cécred’s Wrap & Set Foam to roll my sectioned hair into a set of flexi rods and elongate my natural curls into a bouncy, stretched-out style using a hooded dryer. Farinah even placed a little foam in my hand before it was applied, so I could see firsthand how featherweight and nonsticky its formula is. I was shocked by how quickly it dissipated into my palms when I rubbed them together, as well as by the level of frizz-fighting hold it gave my ringlets.
While you can purchase each styling product individually, Cécred is also offering online-exclusive bundles for its Signature Blowout, Silk Glaze Look, High Roller Set, and Essential Tools, which help take the guesswork out of deciding which products are best for your hair needs. The line may have even convinced me, a faithful natural who’s continually afraid of experiencing damage, to experiment more with heat styling. As the Styling Collection is easy to layer and plays well with the rest of Cécred’s offerings, it’s easy to incorporate one or all of its products into your regular routine. Now that I’ve tested it firsthand in the salon chair, I’m ready to use the collection at home to upgrade my hair looks from the comfort of my bathroom.
The Cécred Styling Collection starts at $18 and is available to shop now at cecred.com and starting April 5 at ulta.com.
